POLICE OFFICER DUTY LIMITATION INSURANCE
Life is full of challenges.
Some are easy to tackle, while others take longer to overcome.
Wellfleet Workplace’s Police Officer Duty Limitation Insurance1,2 is designed specifically for law enforcement, and pays a monthly benefit for a set period of time when you are limited from participating in additional work for compensation, which you otherwise would normally be allowed to perform.
Any additional work for compensation must be related or afforded to you because of your role in law enforcement, such as event security or a safety consultant.
Whatever the type of covered duty limitation being faced, this coverage provides law enforcement and their families with an added layer of financial support when the unexpected happens.
For many police officers, side work can help with covering monthly bills, saving for retirement, paying for education or even family vacations. Not being able to work extra jobs can have a critical impact on one’s budget and future goals.
Police Officer Duty Limitation Insurance provides an extra layer of financial protection when you are unable to take on additional work due to being placed on administrative duty or leave, or indefinite suspension, because of a firearm discharge, hostage situation or internal investigation, for example.

Curious about the difference between Short Term Disability Income Insurance and Police Officer Duty Limitation Insurance? Let’s walk through a quick definition of each and an example.
Short Term Disability coverage replaces a portion of your income for a set period when you cannot work due to an illness, injury or pregnancy. The amount paid depends on the coverage level elected, the length of the elimination period and the duration of the qualified disability.
Police Officer Duty Limitation Insurance replaces a portion of your income for a set period when you are limited from participating in additional work due to being placed on a covered change of duty status. This could include administrative duty or leave, or indefinite suspension. The benefit you receive depends on the coverage level and max benefit period elected, and the length of the elimination period.
Let’s say you carry both coverages.
If you throw out your back and are placed on disability, your Short Term Disability coverage will pay you a monthly benefit while you are unable to work.
If you were put on administrative duty due to a firearm discharge, your Police Officer Duty Limitation coverage will pay you a monthly benefit for the duration of your administrative duty, up to the maximum benefit period.
The money from either benefit can be used however you like, such as for your mortgage and utilities, car payments or other living expenses.
Wellfleet is the only carrier in the industry to carry this one-of-a-kind, tailor-made coverage.
